One full dropper equals one milliliter and contains 10 mg of CBD. Gently shake the bottle before use. CBD seems to be most effective when steady use is maintained over time. We suggest you begin with 1 dropper full a day. If, after a week of this use, you are not seeing the results you want, increase the frequency or amount you give your dog in half dropperful increments. You can continue to increase the frequency or amount until you reach the desired effects. We recommend that any time you increase use, you maintain the new amount for at least a week to become familiar with the effects on your pet.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. It’s one of many cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, known for supporting relief from discomfort caused by everyday activities, maintaing a healthy mood and overall wellness. CBD is extracted from the hemp plant and mixed with a carrier oil (MCT or organic hempseed oil) to achieve the desired potency. CBD is distinct from marijuana because hemp contains lower levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), less than 0.3%, meaning it won’t cause any psychoactive effects or “high.”

The appropriate amount of CBD depends on your dog’s size and their experience with CBD. We recommend 5 mg of CBD daily for small dogs; 10 mg daily for larger breeds as needed. Five milligrams equates to half a dropper (or .5 milliliters) of our 300 mg Canine Calm tincture. With our involvement in clinical studies of cannabinoids in animals, we are confident that in many cases a lower amount of full spectrum CBD given daily, will provide the desired results for your dog. Each animal metabolizes CBD at a different rate at any given time, therefore a steady dose given each day will establish a baseline to work from.
CBD can also be given as needed, to prevent stressful moments such as visits to the vet, grooming sessions, fireworks, or long car trips.
