Is CBD Safe for Pets?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is generally considered safe for pets by the veterinarian specialists we partner with, but quality matters. Always choose products that have been third-party tested, free from harsh additives. Pets may experience minor side effects like dry mouth or drowsiness from orally administered CBD, so it’s best to start with a small amount and gradually increase it. This approach allows pets to safely experience the benefits of precision amounts of CBD. At KindRx we focus on low potency formulas for animals due to clinical studies we have participated in which proved the efficacy of low amounts of CBD.

CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant through methods like CO2 extraction, or alcohol extraction. Our CBD is sourced from hemp plants with less than 0.3% THC, ensuring compliance with legal standards, so it is non-psychoactive. Each product undergoes third-party testing to confirm purity and potency. The final CBD product is a thick substance that’s added to carrier oils, along with flavors, or scents to make it more enjoyable for your pet to consume.

While the ingredients in CBD products for pets and humans may be the same, we do not recommend giving human CBD products to your pets, as the concentrations may be too high and they may not be as palatable for animals. Our CBD tinctures for dogs and cats are flavored with wild Alaskan salmon oil for your pet’s enjoyment.

CBD products for pets can contain trace amounts of THC, which is a natural compound found in the hemp plant. Our full-spectrum CBD products for pets contain less than 0.3% THC, ensuring no intoxicating effects.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. It’s one of many cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, known for supporting normal regulation of bodily systems. CBD is extracted from the hemp plant and mixed with a carrier oil (MCT or organic hempseed oil) to achieve the desired potency. CBD is distinct from marijuana because hemp contains lower levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), less than 0.3%, meaning it won’t cause any psychoactive effects or “high.”

CBD functions similarly in animals and humans, by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). At KindRx, our products for pets include Crunchies, beef and liver flavored tablets, ear, nose and paw balm, tinctures, and more, all made with care to be enjoyable for your pet.

CBD interacts with the Endocannabinoid system, or ECS, which is present in all mammals. The ECS helps regulate and balance the body’s functions, promoting a state known as homeostasis. When there’s an imbalance, the ECS produces endocannabinoids to correct it. The ECS plays a role in regulating systems across the body, affecting joint and cartilage function, mental support, mood, and more.
CBD complements the naturally occurring cannabinoids in your pet’s ECS, which is why it can be so beneficial.

CBD may offer similar benefits for animals as it does for humans, such as promoting relaxation, managing everyday stress, and providing relief from occoasional discomfort from everyday activity. Additionally, CBD can support a normal disposition, normal cardiovascular function, and maintain normal joint flexibility.

Not likely. While all animals react differently to supplements, CBD is a non-psychoactive substance. If you’ve heard that someone did get high from CBD, odds are the product was mislabeled or the label was misunderstood. Maven Hemp lab-verified products contain less than 0.3% THC, making it highly unlikely that your pet will experience any type of “high.”

Both hemp and marijuana are derived from cannabis, however, according to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is required to contain less than 0.3% THC by weight. Marijuana is cannabis that contains more than 0.3% THC. Hemp is completely different from marijuana in its function, cultivation and application. Marijuana, as it is widely known, is used for medicinal or recreational purposes. Hemp is used in a variety of other applications that marijuana isn’t typically used in, such as healthy dietary supplements, clothing, accessories, hempcrete, and plastic.

Your pet may feel an effect within 30 minutes to an hour. However, every animal and every symptom is different, and some can take days or weeks to feel the full effects. We recommend you track how much you are giving your pet and the results you see. If, after a week of regular use at a specific amount, you are not seeing the results you want, increase the frequency or amount you give them. You can continue to increase the frequency until you reach the desired effects. We recommend that any time you increase the amount, you maintain the new frequency for at least a week to become familiar with the effects of the new amount on your pet.

Domestic orders are shipped USPS priority mail or ground advantage and usually arrive in 3-7 business days.

CBD derived from hemp that contains less than 0.3% THC is legal in all 50 states, although some states have restrictions on what is legal. Most of these restrictions have to do with the THC content. All KindRx products have less than 0.3% THC.

KindRx tests our products for potency to be sure finished products comply with legal levels. You can find third party lab test results for our products on our webpage.

The Cannabis Sativa L plant is composed of over five hundred chemical compounds. The plant includes active compounds called terpenoids, flavonoids and phytocannabinoids, sometimes referred to as just cannabinoids. There are over 145 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, each with their own function and potentially-useful properties. Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most well known of the chemicals produced by the cannabis plant other than THC. These chemical compounds are usually found in extracts which are then used to make cannabinoid based products. Phytocannabinoids interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which helps regulate many of the body’s key functions.

The difference between hemp seed oil and CBD lies primarily in from where the oil is extracted. Hemp seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant, similar to the process of making sunflower seed oil. CBD oil, on the other hand, is extracted from the flowers, stems, leaves, and stalk of the hemp plant.

There is a lot of confusion about how to measure properly with tinctures. Our tinctures are labeled with the full amount of CBD in the bottle. So you can take the milligram (mg) amount of CBD/CBG/CBN etc., and divide it by the number of milliliters (ml) in the bottle to find out how many mgs of phytocannabinoids you are getting in one ml of tincture. In our 30 ml bottles one full dropper equals one ml. So for instance, if you have a 300 mg tincture, divide 300 mg by 30 ml, so each dropper full contains 10 mg of CBD. If your vet recommended 10 mg per day, you should administer 1 dropper full daily.

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in hemp plants. These cannabinoids interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which helps regulate many of the body’s key functions. CBD and THC are the most well known and studied of the cannabinoids. Unlike THC, CBD is not intoxicating. Products made with pure CBD isolate contain only extracted CBD, no other phytocannabinoids. Full-spectrum products include all the phytocannabinoids extracted from the hemp plant. Industrial hemp plants contain less than 0.3% THC.

Full-spectrum, in the context of CBD products, refers to the use of all of the cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Compare this to CBD isolate products, which contain only the cannabinoid CBD. It is believed that full spectrum CBD products are more effective than isolate products due to the synergistic nature of the cannabinoids.

At the most basic level, these three substances come from different genus and/or species of the family Cannabaceae. Hemp, for example, refers to the genus Cannabis L. While botanists are in dispute as to the exact categorization of marijuana, three species are commonly recognized: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis. Cannabis is simply a genus of the family Cannabaceae.
